I am a product of a broken family. My parents separated when I was only six years old. However, if there's one thing that I am grateful for with my family, it is that they value education as much as they value life. My parents did their best and worked to send us children to school, but it came to a point that it was not enough.
I was in my third year in college when my mother told about our financial difficulty. My brother, sister, and I were studying at the time. My mother was the only one working. I looked for a job and became a student assistant at school. Although I was earning, my grades suffered. So I decided to stop going to school. But God is so good!
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting that I would be chosen as a recipient of the Meyer Memorial Study Loan Program. It was Lety Irizari, my Bible study leader, who informed me that this program was willing to support me financially. Indeed, this program was a great help for me, but not only as a student.
As an individual, every aspect of my being was developed. It taught me discipline, it inspired me to value my education, to work hard, and to include God in my life in every circumstance. That was a high point in my life. I learned how to really live by faith and my relationship with God deepened. I was excited to see what God would reveal in my life. Now I want to obey and serve Him regardless of the pain and sacrifices it will bring.
Indeed, God works in very unexpected and mysterious ways by using other people as an instrument to demonstrate how faithful and how loving He is. I graduated March 30, 2005. My major is in Filipino and by God’s grace I graduated Cum Laude. For me, it was an unexpected but very wonderful blessing that only God could give.
I have taught at Claret School of Quezon City in Diliman for one year now. I want to use this profession to expand my territory and advance His Kingdom.
No words could express how thankful I am to the Meyer Memroial Study Loan Program and the people behind this program. As I thank all of them, I will continue to hold on to God’s promise in Jeremiah 29:11.
