Students in the ministry struggling financially to attend college face a brighter future thanks to the Meyer Memorial Study Loan Program. The program aims to help students gain employable skills through a good education while growing in their relationship with Jesus Christ and developing skills as disciplemakers. The program has benefitted several students from different ministry areas through a study now and pay later plan. Some of the students have already graduated and found jobs.
The study program is in memory of Craig Meyer who died in 2002. He was a committed disciplemaker who was a friend of the REACH ministry and a staff member of the Navigators, serving at the University of the Philippines—Diliman in Quezon City. He was the husband of Deb Meyer, a sister of REACH, Inc. Chairperson, Ed Jimenez.
Mechanics of the Program
Students may choose any course offered by a public or state college or university throughout the Philippines, regardless of the number of years the course requires. The program pays for tuition and allowance.
Upon graduation, scholars are expected to repay their educational expenses with a modest interest rate of one percent per month. Computation of interest starts after the month of graduatioon based on the total amount borrowed. The loan is payable withiin four years or equal to the number of years enrolled in school to ensure that the program can accommodate future students. Therefore, appropriate action will be taken against those failing to pay their obligations.
